The Class of 2011 has outstanding academic credentials:
  • 90% took at least one College Board Advanced Placement Course.
  • More than 10% took college classes while in high school.
  • More than 88% were in their school's "advanced" or "most difficult" curriculum.
  • More than 1300 have a core high school GPA of 4.00 or higher.
  • 74% were in the top tenth percentile of their high school class.
  • More than 230 graduated first or second in their class.
  • 496 are enrolled in the Honors Program.

First-Year Retention

93% of UGA first-year students return for their second year, well above the average of 69-75% for large public research universities. The first-year retention rate for African-American students is higher than UGA's overall rate at 95%.
